Happy Mother’s Day News: Kara Goucher Is Pregnant

May 8, 2010

Had to share: SBS broke the happy news to the world that Kara Goucher, one of the top American women marathoners (and an absolute sweetheart!), is pregnant. She and the women’s world-record holder in the marathon, Paula Radcliffe (another dear, dear person), are due on the same day in late September. It is Kara’s first baby, Paula’s second. The two phenom marathoners trained together during their first trimester in Portland, Oregon, for several months.

SBS had the pleasure of interviewing Kara in person (and being at the photo shoot the above photo came from. Even though Kara is 19 weeks pregnant in the photo, we all had to egg her on to stick out here belly, otherwise you couldn’t tell she is preggo!). Dimity and SBS wish Kara, Paula, and their families all the best, and we wish them–and ALL of you–a very happy Mother’s Day!

How exciting to see that two elite runners who are friends are able to share such an amazing time in their lives. And to see our Sarah gets to write about it, in NY Times no less! It made my Mother’s Day. Happy Running.

Being the competitive people they are, I wonder if Paula & Kara will be “racing” to the delivery room?!? Great article in the New York Times!

Hope you have a Happy Mother’s Day! (Tall Mom sent me over)

Woot! Woot! That’s awesome! The March Runner’s World alluded to the fact that Kara was trying to conceive but I didn’t know she was pregnant. Congrats Kara! That’s awesome news – I’m due 4 weeks after my two biggest running idols – how cool is that? I hope neither one of them get pregnancy induced plantar fasciitis from running like I did 😦

I was so happy to read this article and see the picture. I love that she is still running! How exciting that her and Paula are both expecting and due at the same time. So great.
